FRIDA THE AKC GERMAN SHEPHERD

At nearly two years old, Frida’s previous humans were looking to have her euthanized for so-called aggression towards both animals and humans. As canine advocates, Dogmata intervened and took in Frida to begin her rehabilitation process. As is typical, Frida wasn’t actually displaying aggressive behavior. Her humans had failed to fulfill their responsibilities as owners of a German Shepherd and neglected to provide her with the mental and physical stimulation she required. Lack of stimulation and socialization developed into over excitement, coupled with high energy anxiety, which created neurotic behavior that could be viewed as aggression to those ignorant of canine body language and communication.

Although we have rehabilitated Frida, new behavior is not yet learned and she is still in training. She will require a home that will continue to reinforce human leadership through rules, boundaries, and limitations while providing her with a job. The bare minimum requirement would be a three mile daily structured walk. She understands sit, down, stay, come, here, front, stop, kennel, and leave it, but continues to struggle with remaining on task. She craves direction and will become stir-crazy without constant consistency. Frida will benefit greatly from a patient yet assertive human leader with an active lifestyle.

Frida is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on Rabies, DHPP, & Bordetella. She has an AKC registration application, so she can be registered under her future new owner.

There is a $200 rehoming fee.

ADOPTION APPLICATION

We believe it is our responsibility to make sure that the dogs we have rehabilitated and trained be placed with a home that will continue to instill consistent leadership. As such, we ask you to complete the following application to give us a better idea of your family, your lifestyle, and how you plan to incorporate a new canine companion into your life. Though some of the questions may be considered personal, please be aware this questionnaire is highly confidential and that no one but Dogmata will have access to your application.

Our rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome program is centered around the promotion of responsible dog ownership. Getting a dog is not something that should be done on a whim, but should involve much research and planning. Be prepared to assume the financial responsibility of care for a dog including inoculation, vet care, quality food, and licensing, etc.

Please complete the application with as much detail as you can. Any questions left unanswered will not automatically disqualify, but will hinder our responsibility to match the dog to the best applicant.
