Always End on a Positive

On October 10, 2018, our members and the community were faced with devastation due to the arrival of Hurricane Michael. Nearly one month later, we had to cope with another tragedy. We had to say goodbye to one of our Pack Members who has been with us since the beginning:

Destiny CGC, Member #004

Destiny was four years old when she was abandoned to the shelter. At some point in her life, her legs had been broken and her bones forced to mend as best they could without veterinary intervention. Although not known for certain, one can only assume Destiny’s first four years were abusive and stressful.

At four years old and arthritic due to passed injuries, Destiny did not have an optimistic future. Fortunately for Destiny, a woman named Debra overlooked the puppies and young dogs and instead opted for a canine truly in need. Debra gave Destiny a purpose in life by providing her with a balanced mixture of both physical and mental challenges in exchange for affection. Destiny was one of the first dogs to receive the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen title at Dogmata.

We thank Debra for respecting Destiny by living like a dog and not dwelling on the past. Debra allowed Destiny the gift of being a dog and the opportunity to live in the present, regardless of her disability and past. Although Destiny had a negative start, her life ended on a positive.

Destiny and the lessons she taught us will always be in our hearts and memory.
