Goodbye, Michi CGCA

Toni came to us in April of 2016 with Michi, an 8 week old Siberian Husky. Michi was Toni’s first puppy and she wanted to make sure she did things right from the start. Huskies aren’t exactly an easy breed for a first time puppy owner. They require high amounts of mental and physical exercise along with consistent leadership. A bored husky puppy will quickly become destructive, excessively mouthy, vocal, and bolt at any opportunity, among many other negative behaviors. Toni understood she had a responsibility to fulfill Michi’s instinctual canine desires as a Siberian Husky.

To satisfy Michi’s need for speed, Toni incorporated what she already knew as a bad ass Roller Derby player. She allowed Michi to pull her on skates as fast as she could, replicating pulling a sled, before their slower-paced structured walks. Toni even used Michi at Derby practices, having members of the team dodge and maneuver around Michi as if she were a human opponent. She also earned both the Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine titles from the American Kennel Club.

After three years, Toni desired more than what this area had to offer her - much like a husky! No matter where they go in life, we know they’ll succeed. Toni is a leader and Michi is testament to that.
